NEW INFORMATION SERVICES OF 
CENTRAL INSTITUTE FOR MEDICAL SCIENCE INFORMATION (CIMSI)

Currently, several databases are availeble in the CIMSI to serve researchers, trainers, managers and practical physicians, medical and pharmaceutical students and other subjects through nationwide. You can search free-charge information in Medical Library (add. 13 - 15 Le Thanh Tong, Ha Noi), photocopy (300 VND per page), download information to floppy disk and request information via net with e-mail address vttyh@hn.vnn.vn, via telephone or via post-mail. Here some major databases are available:

1. CD-Medline: The largest database of United States Medical Library, in which 3,400 medical and pharmaceutical journals in the world have been managed. Most articles have English abstract, from 1984 up to now. This is updated monthly. Cost for printing or sending by e-mail: 1,000VND per article.

2. CD-Popline: Database of population and family planing of UNFPA, from 1995 up to now. English. 1,000VND per record.

3. Proquest Medical Library: The full-text database introduces articles that issued in some 120 leading medical and pharmaceutical journals of the world, from 1994 up to now, updated monthly, with flexible and easy-to-use searching system. Cost for one paper-printed article with full text: 3,000 VND per page.

4. Extramed: The database introduces medical and pharmaceutical full-text articles, with English abstracts. This database is originated from developing countries and created by WHO. Most of these articles not available in Medline, with contents relate highly to the health of developing countries. Cost for paper printing or sending by e-mail: 1,000 VND per abstract and 3,000 VND per one page of full-text.

5. Medical articles of Russia and SNG: The database introduce articles that issued in medical and pharmaceutical journals of Russia and SNG countries from 1996 up to now, with English abstracts. Cost for paper printing or sending by e-mail: 1,000VND per article.

6. Viet Nam Medical and Pharmaceutical Document database: includes books and articles that issued in medical and pharmaceutical journals of Viet Nam, medical and pharmaceutical theses and published studies of Vietnamese authors. Searching with free-charge in the computer network set at Medical Library or sending requests via post-mail, e-mail or telephone.

7. EDDS: This is an electronic document delivery service, providing full-text articles of major medical and pharmaceutical journals in the world, supported and funded partly by SEAMIC (IMFJ). Cost of one full-text article is 5 USD (despite number of pages). Time for responding to request is 1 - 2 days. The users through nationwide who have request please send it to CIMSI. We will send results via e-mail or by paper-printed copies.

Additionally, you can look for the latest medical and pharmaceutical news of Viet Nam and other countries in the Journal of Medico-Pharmaceutical Information, published monthly; in the Internet Medico-Pharmaceutical Newsweek (paper-based copies, served via net and served with free-charge in site www.khoahoc.vnn.vn; in the page for medico-pharmaceutical news of the Journal of Practical Medicine, the Journal of Pharmaceutics and the Health and Life Newspaper.
