History:

- National institute of pccupational and environmental health (NIOEH) was established in 1982 as the dicision No 370/BYT-QD dated 24th April 1982 by minister of health.
- NIOEH was approved as national institute according to the dicision No 230/1998/QD.
- NIOEH was reorganized and has been working according to the regulation No 230/1998/QD-TTg by prime minister and the dicision No 4251/1999 by minister of health.

Occupational hygience department:

- Researching supervision and evaluation of occupational environment (physical, microclimate, chemical and biological factors). Establishing the solution for control of occupational environment and improvement of working conditions in order to protect people health. Labos: physical factors, industrial toxic gas and dusk.
- Occupational physiopsychological and ecgonomy department

Researching the occupational physiopsychology and ecgonomy, setting up the allowable limitation in working, the solutions which are suitable with working conditions.

Labos: Occupational physiology, occupational psychology and ecgonomy.

- Occupational disease research department:

Researching the occupational diseases (pulmonary dusk disease, occupational deaf, occupational dermatological diseases, insectiside toxicity ...etc...); detecting the new occupational diseases in the new manufacturing areas during modernization and industrialization; adding the list of occupational diseases; setting up the standards of working force is all sectors.

Labos: Consultation department of occupational diseases, biochemistry, X-ray.

+ The department of school health: Researching the school health, the environmental factors, learning conditions, the physio-psychological properties of pupils and the diseases related school age.

+ The environment hygience department: Researching to establish the standards of environmental hygience, the techniques of inspection of environmental hygience.

Labos: environmental technique, the public health, the water chemistry and microbiology.

+ The planning department:

- Leading and guiding the profession, techniques and plan of activities in the occupational medicine, environmental hygience and school hygience.
- Organizing the implementation of the national programs and international programs in occupational medicine, the environmental hygience and school health.

+ The scientific management department:

- Organizing the training and retraining.
- Editing and publishing the materials for training and the occupational monograph.
- The personnel and administration department.
