* History:
Viet Nam national institute of
dermatology and venerology (NIDV) was established according to
the dicision No 70/BYT/QD date 28th January 1982 by minister
of health.

Functions and tasks:
Being the national level in dermatology and
venerology.
- Diagnosing and treating the
dermatological, leprosy and sexual transsmitted diseases in
the central level.
- Training (higher education and
post graduation): 1st, 2nd grade medical doctor, Master of
science and phylosophy doctor in dermatology and venerology
profession.
- Researching in etiology of
dermatology, venerology and leprosy.
- profession guiding for lower
levels in the whole country.
- International cooperation in
dermatology and venerology prevention and control and
scientific research.

program of anti leprosy and sexual transmitted disease
prevention and control.

The some main achievements:

Reducing the incidence of leprosy from 5.4/10000 rehabitants
(in 1985) to 0.22/10.000 rehabitants (in 2000).
- Preventing and controlling the sexual transmitted diseases.
- Establishing the profession network from central to local
levels with the high professional cadres (professor: 06, Ph.D:
10 and M.S: 30).
- Enhancing the in ternational cooperation with
non-governmental organizations in the leprosy, prevention and
control and sexual transmitted disease prevention and control.
- Applying the modern treatments such as plastic surgery,
laser for dermatological diseases.
- Guiding and supervising the activities in the sexual
transmitted diseases. Sending the staffs to the provinces,
especially remote and far-way areas, central highland and
southwest of Viet Nam.
- Organizing many training couses for health staffs in
cooperating with international experts.
- Setting up the network of information and report from
central to local levels in order to collect rapidly the
information and to make the disicion properly and effectively.
- Many themes were studied and reported in the country or in
the world such as leprosy epidermology, multi chemotherapy for
leprosy, the model for the sexual transmitted disease
prevention, laser treatment of dermatological diseases, etc...

Training:
Teaching and training: medical
doctor, 1st or 2nd grade medical doctor, master of science,
phylosophy doctor.
International cooperation:
Cooperated with WHO, ILEP, UNAIDS, the international
organization in the leprosy prevention and control in many
countries such as Japan, Belgium, Netherland, Germany,
America, England, France, CDC and UNFPA etc...
Service:
- Examination department: everyday
(saturday and sunday: 7h30-11h30).
- Extratime consultation (16h30-18h30 from monday to friday).
- Laser and plastic surgery: treatment of genetic blood
tumour, plastic surgeries for birth defects in the dermatology
and venerology.
- Examination department for S.T.D (free for some drugs).
- Laboratory: detecting many diseases such as gonorrhea,
venereal, HIV/AIDS, chlamydia, fungus ... etc... |
