NIB is the leading institute in
research, treatment, education and guiding of the activities
for burn prevention and control with tasks as follows:
. Researching the ways of burn
prevention and control and the first management in the primary
level.
. Monitoring, guiding the profession and techniques of burn
profession in the whole country.
. Consulting and treating the burn for people and arming force
as well as burn sequela.
. Collaborating with the medical universities to train and
complement cadres in burn profession.
. Cooperating with domestic and international universities,
hospitals and organizations in the science of burn according
to the leading of ministry of health.

injury etiology; participating the research of the burn
treatment; guiding the lower levels in the burn prevention,

- Receiving and treating the patients with burn sequela and
implementing the plastic surgery; applying the microsurgery
with path of exrathin skin bag of stretched skin.

substitution; participating emergency and treatment in the

pressure oxygen in adding the treatment of burn.

commission for profession of the burn and disaster medicine
(under ministry of health) Was established according to the
dicision No 1840/BYT-QD by ministry of health dated 14 th
October, 1996.

Tasks:
. Researching the evaluation of the professional situation of
the burn and disaster medicine in order to recommend to
minister of health for the works of setting the disaster
medicine branch, the plan of regular preparation from central
to local levels when disaster occurs.
. Collaborating with the functional departments to monitoring
the disaster situation, assisting the minister of health,
guiding the health departments for the orientation and the
solution of technico-profession that suitable with the present
situation in order to solve the health problems during
disaster and after disaster.
. Researching and introducing the establishement of the burn
treatment network in the whole country, especially the
prevention, first aid and mass burn during disaster.
. Editing and publishing the
materials of disaster medicine and burn to serve the
education, research and treatment.
. Cooperating with the domestic and international

office of journal of disaster medicine and burn:

Editorial office of the journal of disaster medicine and burn
was established according to the dicision No 78/GD-BVHTT by
the ministry of culture and information dated 23 th March,
2001. Being the speech organization and exchanging the
scientific experiences of advising commission for the disaster
medicine and burn under ministry of health, the national
institute of burn and Viet Nam burn association. The journal
of disaster medicine and burn was issued quartely.
Some
major achievements (1991-2001):
Treatment:
. Emergency treatment: 18000
cases, many patients burned with 85% of the body area and 50%
deep burned areas.
. Participating emergency and treatment the burn patients in
the big fire.
Training:
Teaching the burn profession for
500 medical doctors in the lower lovels, 300 long-term M.D, 45
primary profession M.D, 22 M.S and 8 Ph.D.
Researching:
Researching and applying the
drugs for burn treatment including: B 76, Maduxin, AT 4,
SH 91, Eopolin and Dampomade.
Completing 5 themes of national levels, many themes of
ministry level and local levels.
Developing and cooperating in research of culture of corneous
cell, technological adhesive bandage - Nano, and biological
membrane.
Professional guiding:
Setting up the burn treatment
network in the whole country. Training and supplying the
documents in burn treatment for lower levels.
Editing and publishing
activity:
Compiling the text books of the
burn and editing, publishing and issueing the journal of
disaster medicine and burn which sent to 61 provincial health
offices and the burn departments in hospitals in the whole
country.
International
cooperation:
Cooperating with European sore
sealing association, the burn surgery association of Japan,
the chicago university (America) the French burn association,
the institute of surgery A.V. visnhepski (Rusia) and the
international atomic energy association (IAEA).
