History:

The Tue Tinh college of traditional medicine was established in 11th March, 1971.

Function and tasks:

1. Training the students in the middle level of traditional medicine; retraining the cadres of traditional medicine in the north of VietNam.
2. Researching, inheritting and applying the medication and experiences of treatment and traditional valuable medicinal plants to contribute to conservation and development of the Vietnames traditional medicine.
3. Collecting, researching and growing the medicinal plants to teach and treatment; manufacturing some traditional medications to teach and treatment of diseases.
4. Practising the treatment of diseases by methords of traditional medicine to serve the training.
5. Participating the compile of teaching documents of traditional medicine in the middle degree for ministry of health and provide these documents for local colleges of traditional medicine.

Material facility and equipment:

Ensuring 650 students in learning and practising:

- Medicinal plant garden including 500 medicinal plants
- General consultation department: diagnose, accupunture, electric accupunture message, X-ray, Super-tonic, tests for treatment and teaching.
- The college has closely relation with 10 institutes and hospitals in modern and traditional medicine, which are practising places.

Some major achievements:

- Trained 2000 assitance doctors
- Retrained 2500 M.D and assitance doctors
- Trained 75 assitance doctor of high degree and 48 M.D of traditional medicine
- Retrained 1000 standardized physicians in 7 provinces of north of VietNam.
- Consultation: More than 1000 patients including arthritis, rheumatic arthritis, nervous impairement, peripheral nerve III, semiparalysis, acute hepatitis, acute or/and chronic nephritis... etc
- Inheritting 120 medications and 100 medicinal plants with high value for treatment and teaching.
- 3rd grade labour medal (1996)
- Diploma of merit of ministry of education and training (2000)
- Excellent flag of ministry of health (1997 and 1999)

- Enhancing the material facility
- Upgrading the professional and management cadres
- Upgrade the college of traditional medicine to the university of traditional medicine
- Strengthen the international cooperation and scientific research.
