History:

Ha Noi college of pharmacy (HCP) was established in 29th September, 1961 according to the decision of ministry of Health (medicine faculty and pharmacy faculty is seperately divided). HCP has a predicessor as indochia medico-pharmaceutical university in 1902 and then this name was changed to Viet Nam medico-pharmaceutical university in November, 1945.

Functions and tasks:

Training the pharmacists with a good moral, a stable knowledge of basic science and basic medicine and pharmacy and basic professional skills to collaborate with medical doctors in guiding safe and effective use of drugs; to manufacture, manage and supply the drugs well; to self study; to meet the need of people health protection and care.

HCP is one of 8 training and education facilities of ministry of health HCP trained many pharmacists, master of science, phylosophy doctors who participate in the couse of the people health protection and care through the drug manufacturing, distributing and drug use instructing activities and participate the management and researches.

Some main achievements:

670 general and specialized pharmacists graduated account for 70% pharmacists in the whole country. Many 1st grade and 2 nd grade pharmacists, master of pharmacy science and pharmacy doctors.

Training activities and service products:

. 1000 learner who participate the training courses of graduation, master of science, phylosophy doctors and 1st grade and 2 nd pharmacists.
. The target of training of HCP is to teach students to become pharmacists with good moral, the knowledge of science and comprehensive basic

Stable basic medicine and pharmacy and the knowledge of basic skills of the mordern and traditional pharmacy and medicine to instruct the use of drugs, preparation and production, management and distribution of the drugs; with capacity of self studying. These contribute to meet the needs of the cause of the people health protection and care.

Learners are trained the comprehensive knowledge of sophiology, economy, chemistry and biology; the basic knowledge of physiobiology, anatomy, etiology, parasites and microbiology; the general knowledge of pharmacy such as pharmacology, pharmaco chemistry, pharmacognosy and pharmacobiology ... etc... and most important knowledge such as preparation and dispense, production, clinical pharmacy, drug quality control, traditional pharmacy and pharmacy management and economy. In addition to, learners are studied foreign languages, physics, maths, stastical math, informatics, logics, psychotry and law ... etc...

Practising activity are considered very important. It accounts for 50% training program. Students do experiments in faculties, practise in drug stores, hospitals, pharmaceutical factories and health facilities.

International cooperation:

HCP cooperated with the international organization such as world vision international, world health organization, pharmaciens sans frontieres, Swidden SIDA and some foreign universities such as Leiden and Groningen (Netherland), curtin (Australia), Caen, Lyon (France), Chiang Mai (Thai Lan), Berkeley university (USA) and Leu Ven (Belgium).

HCP organized some conferences and technical meeting with international organizations including training conference on good manufacturing practice (with Viet Nam - Australia malaria control program; VAMCP), training and conference on good drug practice (funding from European Union), conference on good drug management (Aus AID and world vision international) and cooperates with embasy of France to postgraduate for pharmacists.

Many pharmacists, M.S, Ph.Ds who come from Cambodia and Laos, are trained in HCP.
